The Board and Management of Guinness Nigeria Plc wishes to inform the investing public and our esteemed stakeholders that Mr. Bismarck Jemide Rewane has retired from the Board of Guinness Nigeria PLC with effect from 31st December 2020 after spending twelve remarkably impactful years on the Board.

Mr. Bismarck Rewane was appointed to the Board of Guinness Nigeria Plc as a Non-Executive Director in 2008 and was an invaluable member of the Board in many capacities including serving as the Chairman of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.

In his letter to the Board in compliance with applicable Corporate Governance, Mr. Rewane expressed his delight “at having been part of the wonderful Guinness story over the last 12 years and also thanked the Board and Diageo for the opportunity to have served with many wonderful people on the Board”. He also expressed his “continued support for Guinness Nigeria, Diageo and the iconic brands in the Diageo stable”.

The Vice-Chairman of the Board and President, Diageo Africa, Mr. John O’Keeffe, thanked Mr. Rewane “profoundly on behalf of the Board of Diageo PLC, the parent company of Guinness Nigeria, for his invaluable contributions to the success of the Guinness Nigeria over the years”.

Also speaking on the retirement of Mr. Bismarck Rewane, the Board Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Savage, expressed his “profound gratitude to Mr. Rewane for his wonderful and immense contributions to the Board and commitment to the success of the Company since his appointment in 2008”. The Chairman, on behalf of the Board and Management wished Mr. Rewane the best in all his future endeavours as he continues to serve our Nation.

The appropriate notification of the retirement has already been sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange as required by extant regulations.
